Downtown St. Petersburg – The Changing Face of Paradise

Downtown St. Petersburg – The Changing Face of Paradise

Florida Trend Magazine describes the city of St. Petersburg as, “The Changing Face of Paradise.” Downtown St. Petersburg is experiencing a renaissance which has been in the making for the ten years and is still evolving. The city is feeling a boom in every sector, Marine Science, Medical, Technology, Arts and Higher Education, with a focus on the quality of life and community at the heart of it all. Residents are proud of their city and want to be a part of making it an even better place for future generations to enjoy.

According to Bob Glaser, President and CEO of Smith & Associates Real Estate, “There is really no other West Coast city offering what this one has in terms of waterfront parks and cultural amenities.” The City boasts seven miles of downtown waterfront with double wide sidewalks, lush landscaping and outdoor cafes. There are over 35 miles of bike trails in St. Petersburg and an impressive $46 million Pier project, which will feature a waterfront multi-use park in the heart of Downtown St. Petersburg, once construction is completed.

Monthly art walks, a variety of world-renowned galleries and museums, including the Salvador Dali Museum and the Museum of Fine Arts, bring the artistic lifestyle into every aspect of living here. The SHINE Mural Fest re-invigorated the landscape of many facades with giant murals on buildings throughout the downtown district. And the art scene continues to grow, with the Museum for Arts and Crafts Movement already breaking ground on what will be the will be the largest museum of its kind in the United States. Mahaffey Theatre hosts The Florida Orchestra as well as artists from all over the country that enjoy playing there or one of the many other venues located in Downtown St. Pete.

Companies searching for cities that offer their employees enhanced quality of life are flocking to St. Petersburg. Jabil, one of the largest electronics manufacturer in the world, has their corporate headquarters here. Major medical facilities, like All Children’s Hospital John Hopkins Medicine, Bayfront Medical Center and St. Anthony’s have all seen expansion and growth in the last few years.

With waterfront views, sunshine most every day of the year, plenty of green space, a booming job market, and a diverse population that includes people from all over the world, St. Petersburg is on the map as one of the greatest cities in Florida, or maybe in the entire United States!

Here are just a few of the accolades that St. Petersburg has received in the past two years:

#1 Fittest Metro in Florida/ #27 in the US (American College of Sports Medicine 2015)
#2 Most Beautiful City in the US (The Culture Trip 2015)
#12 US Metro for Small Business (Biz2Credit 2014)
#1 Town for Craft Lovers (American Craft Week 2015)

The Salvador Construction Video & Photos

The Salvador – Construction Video & Photos

Here we go! Our contractor is on site and construction on our 13-story boutique condo tower, The Salvador has begun. What a change a couple of months make! The run-down buildings that were on this conveniently located lot in Downtown St. Petersburg were demolished to make way for our Green-Certified Condominium Tower. The Salvador will become the residential cornerstone of Downtown St. Pete’s “Arts & Innovation District”. This neighborhood is happening, with growth as vibrant start-ups move into the area and education institutes like USF St. Petersburg expand. More people are seeking out urban centers to call home because of their walkability and easy access to culture, dining and waterfront views.

The contractor is beginning to scrape and grade the site, leaving trees along the property line that will be a part of The Salvador’s earth-friendly landscaping. Then, the foundation survey will begin, followed by stone column installation. This construction is expected to take three weeks. Once the foundations are in, we will install the storm-water vault.

We know you are eager to move in so we will continue to post updates on our progress. Keep checking back!

Tampa, FL, December 16, 2014 — The once-sleepy downtown area of St. Petersburg, FL is enjoying a monumental growth spurt. New businesses continue to open their doors and bring a fresh vitality to the city’s urban core. The once defunct shopping center, BayWalk, has been transformed into the open-air retail center the SunDial, filled with trendy boutiques and restaurants. The city is also becoming a cultural hub for the arts, with the architectural beauty of the Dali Museum nestled along the water’s edge, and a variety of other places that appeal to the city’s ever expanding demographic of art lovers.

There are over 2,500 new apartments and only a number of limited condos presently planned or under construction in downtown St. Petersburg, but the demand for urban residences is rising, with corporations, like IQor U.S. Inc, relocating their headquarters to the well named, City of Sunshine. To accommodate the growth in the area, The Salvador, a 13-story condominium building, is in the heart of downtown’s arts and innovation district. It offers luxury amenities at a more affordable price than other new residential construction projects.

“The demand for residences in Downtown St. Petersburg is exploding. The only issue we foresee in the real estate market is limited inventory. Prices in the rental market continue to rise as the demand to live in Urban settings rises,” said Bob Glaser, CEO of Smith & Associates.

Walking distance to The Dali Museum, to which The Salvador is an a presenting sponsor of the Dali/Picasso exhibit, Mahaffey Theater, USF St. Petersburg, BayFront Hospital, All Children’s Hospital, The Rowdies, Saturday Morning Market, Publix and it’s own two retailers on the ground floor.

and much more, The Salvador offers an affordable urban luxury lifestyle. An 11,000-square-foot amenity deck on the third floor, with spa, heated saltwater pool and fire pit along with a fitness center and yoga room. The two-story lobby will feature a concierge with a sitting and meeting room and is a designated energy-efficient “green” building.

One and two-bedroom condos range from 964 square feet to 1,810 square feet, and the pair of three-bedroom penthouses at about 2,500 square feet. All homes will come with Bosch stainless steel appliances; wine coolers, gas cooktops, European-style cabinets and wide plank engineered wood flooring. Prices will start at $325,000, with most in the $450,000 to $650,000 range.

Smith & Associates encourages you to come in for a preview and will have agents on site every day to share the beauty of this contemporary building with residents looking to join the ‘Burg. Tampa-based DDA Development and Mesh Architecture are partners in the building development.
